ODOT Press ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
Portland, Oregon -- With closure of the north span of the Interstate Bridge just days away, crews are going into the final countdown mode as they make sure that last-minute details are in place for the shutdown of the span, scheduled for 5 a.m. on Tuesday (September 16).
On Monday night (September 15), starting around 9 p.m., crews will swing into action in the immediate area of the bridge to set concrete barrier to divert northbound traffic onto the southbound span. Other activities include uncovering detour signs and covering conflicting signs; placing moveable barrier on the bridge lift span; installing concrete barrier on the SR-14 Interchange to divert westbound traffic onto I-5 northbound; striping on both sides of the bridge where northbound traffic will enter and leave the southbound lanes; and taking care of many other final details.
Motorists should be aware that these activities will require various northbound and southbound alternating lane closures on both sides of the Interstate Bridge, in the immediate area of the span. At all times, there will be at least one lane of traffic open in each direction on I-5.
