The Bad NewsThe bad news is that half of the I-5 bridge will be closed for repairs starting September 16.The Good NewsThe good news (and there is some) is that C-TRAN will be on top of things to help lighten traffic congestion. How? With enhanced commuter service, HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes and additional Park & Ride locations. Call us at 360-695-0123 for helpful trip planning. Thinking about carpooling? We have a computerized matching system that can put you together with others in your neighborhood who have similar commute and work schedules. For more info, please call 69-MATCH (360-696-2824). For general information, call 1-800-722-6557, or check out this web page. Don't forget, the bridge closure is just around the corner so make sure you plan now. Call us and let us show you how. Free RidesAll C-TRAN service will be absolutely free from September 16, 1997 through the reopening of the I-5 Bridge. It couldn't be easier; whether you're taking C-TRAN to MAX, Amtrak to a Tri-Met Bus, or are using C-TRAN to transfer to a Tri-Met bus heading to Tualatin or Beaverton, it's ALL FREE! We'll be handing out Tri-Met's "all day/all zone" transfers to whoever needs to use Tri-Met or MAX. So, read on for all of the specifics and then hop on a FREE C-TRAN bus during the I-5 Bridge repair. If you would like a little help planning your mass transit trip, just give us a call at 360-695-0123 and we'll provide you with a specific itinerary, schedules and any other information you might need to make your trip fun, easy and relaxing! Transferring to Tri-Met or MAXBecause all C-TRAN service will be free during the I-5 Bridge repair, passengers who transfer to Tri-Met/MAX from any C-TRAN route will need to request a free Tri-Met transfer from the bus driver. These "all day/all zone" Tri-Met transfers will be valid on all Tri-Met buses, MAX trains and Amtrak. Please ask the C-TRAN driver for the transfer as you board the bus. After you make your Tri-Met or MAX connection, please remember to keep the transfer as you will need it for your return trip in the evening. Monthly Pass HoldersC-TRAN monthly pass holders may use their special September/October "2 for 1" monthly pass for transfers to Tri-Met/MAX or use the special Tri-Met/MAX transfer - both will be accepted. For more information about this special monthly pass, available for purchase in September, please call C-TRAN Customer Assistance at 360-695-0123. AmtrakAmtrak service, as well as the C-TRAN shuttles to the Vancouver Amtrak station, will also be free during the bridge repairs. If you need to transfer to a Tri-Met bus (going outside of fareless square), please ask the Amtrak train conductor for a free Tri-Met transfer. Again, please remember to hold on to the transfer for your return trip in the evening. Park and Ride Locations
