The set of solutions for the I-205 Corridor Study need to:
- Improve local street connections that support the interchanges while minimizing neighborhood cut-through traffic.
- Work toward creating a regional grid system that reduces congestion, increases capacity and promotes safety.
- Balance neighborhood, city and county needs and concerns.
- Improve multi-modal and mass transit systems to reduce congestion on I-205 and local streets.
- Address future growth and economic impacts in the I-205 study area.
- Coordinate I-205 and I-5 studies, city and regional planning, state and local street planning.
- Institute operational changes on the freeway to handle congestion, particularly during peak travel times.
- Allow for some level of improvement to be put in place that is cost effective as quickly as possible.
- Resolve the role and purpose of I-205 as a part of the regional transportation system.
- Improve freight mobility.
- Minimize impacts to existing neighborhoods.
